The Cardinal. Who doesn't love the Cardinal? easly picked out in the winter; the color is a sight for sore eyes.
We have what is officially called the Northern Cardinal, and here are a few ways to keep them happy.
SEED Cardinals prefer the Black Oil Sunflower and Safflower. There large bill is ideal for the larger seeds.
HOUSING Cardinals will not use nesting boxes, they make there homes in viney, fruit bearing shrubbery. Which they will nest in twice every summer.
FEEDERS Cardinals are ground feeders; however,they'll feed on flat surfaces. Feeders such as the hopper, fly in and open platform, placed about five feet above the ground(how that was found out, I don't know). Tube feeders pearches are often to small for the Cardinal to perch on comfortably. if you really wanted to attract them and you have a tube feeder you must attach a tray to it.
